VIEW THE PHOTO GALLERY of phase one of the Setzler Field renovation and the installation of a synthetic playing surface for the 2006 season and beyond. The College began phase one of the renovation to Setzler Field, the Indians’ football facility, on June 13. Workers began clearing the field for the installation of nearly 90,000 square yards of AstroPlay XPN, a synthetic grass surface with rubber infill produced by AstroTurf, LLC.

The installation is scheduled to be completed in time for fall football practice in August.
The field will be stripped of all vegetation and compacted to create a hard base, and the drainage system will be installed. A layer of crushed run gravel will go down next. Then, the turf will be rolled out and seamed together. Once in place, the rubber infill will be spread on top of the turf. The college will also install new goalposts as a part of the field renovation.
