Football announces 2006 first-day signing class
Wednesday, February 1, 2006 | by 22 Palmetto State players will wear Newberry scarlet in the fall

NEWBERRY, S.C. – Newberry College and head football coach Zak Willis announced the signing of 22 student-athletes on the first day of the football signing period.  Every member of the first-day class is a resident of South Carolina.

"This is probably the best recruiting class we’ve had here in terms of character and academics," Willis said of the 2006 recruits.

Three Shrine Bowl participants and five North-South All-Stars headline the 2006 class.
