Thursday night football comes to Newberry College
Wednesday, October 19, 2005

Are you ready for some football?  More specifically, are you ready for some college football, televised live, on Thursday night?

So are the Indians of Newberry College, and they want you watching.

This is your chance to see two Don Hansen Football Gazette's national offensive players of the week on the same team.  Mazzie Drummond won the award in 2003 playing against these same Bulldogs of Wingate.  Josh Stepp is red hot after throwing for six touchdowns and 425 yards to win the honor last week.

Students in the Newberry County school district 15 years old and under will be admitted at no charge with a paying adult.  Newberry students over 15 will need to show school ID to be admitted.  Newberry College students, faculty, and staff will be admitted with their college ID cards.

In appreciation for their efforts, Newberry city and county law enforcement and emergency/rescue personnel will be admitted at no charge by 1) showing up in uniform, 2) showing a badge, or 3) showing some sort of identification as law enforcement/emergency/rescue personnel.

The game will be televised in Columbia on Time Warner Cable channel 10.  Subscribers in the Charlotte-Metrolina area will see the game on channel 7, and Union County, N.C. customers can watch channel 9.  Charleston's Comcast is tentatively scheduled to show the game on channel 78.  Kickoff is at 7 p.m., but some markets will be treated to a pregame special beginning around 6:30.
