Today, in a joint announcement from athletic director Andrew Carter and head coach Zak Willis, due to the after effects of Hurricane Charley and the subsequent recovery effort has forced the cancellation of Newberry's opening game against Webber International University. The game was to originally take place on Webber's home field in Babson Park near Orlando, Florida, on August 28th.  The game will not be rescheduled this season.

Hurricane Charley caused extensive damage all throughout the state of Florida, including damage to cities more inland like Orlando and Jacksonville.  Florida is still under a state of emergency.

At this time, the athletic administration is working to arrange a scrimmage with an opponent at Setlzer Field on August 28.  No other details have been finalized.  Continue to check www.newberryindians.com for the latest, up-to-date information.
