Punter Jeff Williams named Special Teams Player of the Week for the South Atlantic Conference

ROCK HILL, SC – The South Atlantic Conference has announced its Football Players of the Week for the week ending Oct. 4, 2003.  Earning honors this week are Tusculum running back Chris Mosley, Carson-Newman defensive lineman Clarence Glymph and Newberry punter Jeff Williams. 

Mosley, a 5-8, 185, sophomore from Clarksville, TN, scored three touchdowns as the Pioneers defeated Wingate 55-16.  The former Clarksville High School standout totaled 95 yards on 15 carries for an average of 6.3 yards a carry.

Glymph, a 6-3, 260, senior from Newberry, SC, recorded eight tackles as the Eagles topped Mars Hill 35-14.  Among the eight tackles from the former Newberry High School product were three sacks and another for a loss.  He also broke up a pass as C-N held the Lions to just 97 yards rushing. 

Williams (Pelion,SC/Pelion HS), a 6-2, 225, junior, helped Newberry end an 18-game conference losing streak as the Indians defeated Lenoir-Rhyne 10-7.  For the day, he averaged 46.7 yards on nine punts and had three downed inside the opponent 20-yard line.  Williams had a career-long punt of 73 yards and the Bears averaged starting on their own 18 in the final half.

The SAC Players of the Week are determined by a vote of the eight sports information directors of the conference schools.
