AIKEN- The Newberry College baseball team defeated the No. 13 Pacers of USC Aiken 6-2, on Wednesday night. With the win the Wolves improved to 27-15-1 while the Pacers dropped to 30-10.

INSIDE THE BOX SCORE
- Trejon Smith (Fredricksburg, Va) went 3-for-2 at the plate, scored one run and drove one in while Nolan Schrenker (Valrico, Fla.) scored one run and drove one runner in.
-Daymon Totherow (Danville, Va.), JoJo Bradley (Spartanburg, S.C.), Tommy Passerello (Davenport, Fla.), and Jacob Bass (North Augusta, S.C.) all scored one run each. Bradley and Schrenker also drove one in.
- Michael Gonzalez (Wilsonville, Ore.) sent two runners home while Jeff Sneed (Cumming, Ga.) drove one in.
- Danton Hyman (Prosperity, S.C.) logged the win in six full innings on the mound, giving up four hits and two runs.  Charlie Fessler (Summerville, S.C.) pitched one inning giving up one hit while Marshall Rentz (Charleston, S.C.) threw two innings, tallying three strikeouts.

HOW IT HAPPENED
Bradley put Newberry on the board in the first inning when he tripled down the right field line sending Totherow home.  Bradley then scored for a 2-0 lead on Sneed’s single to right field.

USC Aiken cut Newberry’s lead in half with a homer from Goings in the bottom of the second.

Smith answered in the third inning with a homer giving Newberry a 3-1 lead. Passerello scored the last run of the inning on Schrenker’s double to left center.

The Pacers were back on the board in the fifth inning when Lankster scored.

Newberry sealed the win in the ninth inning when Gonzalez singled to center field sending Bass and Schrenker home.

UP NEXT
The Wolves host Anderson this weekend for a three game series. The Wolves will honor their five seniors before the doubleheader on Saturday.
