LAST TIME OUT FOR THE WOLVES
Newberry defeated the Jaguars of Augusta University 10-7, under the lights on Tuesday night. With the win the Wolves improve to 14-4-1 while Augusta falls to 11-5.

Jeff Sneed (Cumming, Ga.) went 2-for-4 at the plate, scoring one run while Daymon Totherow (Danville, Va.) went 1-for-3, scoring three runs. Derek Olenchuk (Irmo, S.C.) drove in two and score one run.

JoJo Bradley (Spartanburg, S.C.) scored two runs and Michael Gonzalez (Wilsonville, Ore.), Sam Jones (Greer, S.C.) and Robert Kosch (Clemson, S.C.) all scored one run for the win.

Marshall Rentz (Charleston, S.C.) got the start on the bump pitching 3.1 innings. Rentz gave up seven hits and six runs and tallied two strikeouts. Danton Hyman (Prosperity, S.C.) pitched 1.1 innings giving up five hits and one run while Charlie Fessler (Summerville, S.C.) pitched 0.1 innings.

Austin Walker (Charleston, S.C.) logged 2.0 innings and the win, giving up one hit and tallying two strikeouts. Robert Westenrieder (Taylors, S.C.) logged 0.1 innings giving up one hit while John Mason Reynolds (Taylors, S.C.) pitched 1.0 innings giving up two hits. Cody Ezzell (Greensboro, N.C.) took the save for Newberry pitching 0.2 innings, tallying one strikeout.

LAST MEETING WITH LMU
The Wolves took last season’s series 2-1 at Lamar Hennon Feild. The Wolves won by the scores of 5-3 and 20-7 before falling 15-9 in game three.

In the single game (W, 5-3), starter Jonathan Rosenberger gave the Wolves a strong start on the mound tossing 5.2 innings scattering five hits and only allowing two runs, which were scored on a two-run home run from LMU’s Jonathan Lowe.

Daniel Nations (Central, S.C.) picked up his first win of the season after going two full innings allowing three hits, one run, a walk and striking out four Railsplitters.

During the doubleheader (W, 20-7/L, 15-9), Albert Baur and Brandan Sheridan led a Newberry lineup that produced nine players recording two or more hits in both games. Baur went 4-for-6 with a pair of doubles, a triple, a home run and accounted for 10 runs, scoring five and driving in as many. Sheridan was 4-for-7 with a double, triple, six runs batted in and three runs scored.

SCOUTING LINCOLN MEMORIAL

The Railsplitters came up just a little bit short in a 13-11 loss at King on Wednesday. The Tornado scored five runs in both the second and sixth innings to provide enough distance to withstand Lincoln Memorial's seven-run outburst in the top of the eighth. Logan Augustine led the Railsplitters at the plate by going 3-for-5 with a double and a run scored. Eric Kalman added two hits, while Mason Ewers drove in a pair of runs.

Freshman left-hander Ethan Elliott is carrying a 3.92 earned run average with 21 strikeouts over 20 2/3 innings of work. Elliott is the first pitcher to win his first three starts in a season since Joe Workman accomplished that feat in 2007.

UP NEXT
The team is headed to Tigerville on Wednesday, March 9 when they play a single game against North Greenville at 3:30 p.m.
