Wolves stay at third in NCBWA Southeast Region Poll

PEMBROKE, N.C.- The Newberry College baseball team remains in the third spot this week in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Southeast Region Poll, as announced Monday. 

The Wolves went 2-1 against Catawba College defeating the Indians 11-5 before falling to them 4-1 in Saturday’s doubleheader. In the single game on Sunday, Newberry downed Catawba 9-7 in extra innings.

Columbus State moved up to the first spot this week with 110 points and a 12-3 record. USC Aiken fell to second with 92 points and a 11-3 record followed by Belmont Abbey in the fourth spot with 74 points. Lander and North Georgia are tied in fifth receiving 53 points each followed by Francis Marion in seventh with 44 points.

Erskine moved up to eighth place with 43 points, UNC Pembroke rounds out the ninth spot with 32 points and Lenoir-Rhyne closes the poll in tenth place with 23 points.

Newberry hosts Augusta for a single game on Tuesday, March 1 at 6 p.m.
