Wolves ranked in Collegiate Baseball DII Poll for first time ever

TUCSON, Ariz. - The Newberry College baseball team made history today after being ranked 20th in the Collegiate Baseball NCAA Division II Poll, announced Monday. The ranking is the first time Newberry has ever been placed on the poll.

Tampa tacked the first spot in the poll with 480 points and a 8-1 record. St. Cloud State was placed in second after receiving 462 points followed by Colorado-Mesa in third with 452. Minnesota is fourth with 422 points, Franklin Pierce is fifth with 414 points, Lubbock Christian is sixth with 398 points, and North Georgia is seventh with 376 points. USC Aiken takes the eighth spot with 364 while Florida Southern takes ninth place with 344 points and a 8-3 record. Missouri Southern rounds out the top 10 with 338 points and a 8-0 record.

U.C. San Diego and West Georgia are tied in 11th place with 315 points followed by Dixie State in 13th with 278 points. Francis Marion are five spots ahead of Newberry taking 15th place with 254 points. West Texas A&M are just one point ahead of the Wolves taking the 19th slot while Catawba takes 18th with 186 points and a 5-4 record.

The Wolves host Lander for a single game on Tuesday, February 23 at 6 p.m.  Newberry is then on the road against Catawba for a weekend series starting on Friday, February 26 at 6 p.m.
