Wolves drop one place in NCBWA Southeast Region Poll at No. 3

PEMBROKE, N.C.- The Newberry College baseball team was placed in the third spot in the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) Southeast Region Poll, as announced Monday. 

The Wolves went 3-0 this past weekend after sweeping Davis & Elkins in their three-game series. Newberry defeated the Senators by the following scores: 14-7, 10-0 and 6-3.

USC Aiken takes the top spot this week again with 118 points and a 10-1 record, followed by North Georgia who is in second with 97 points. Columbus State, Ga. takes the fourth spot with 68 points, Francis Marion takes fifth with 57 points and Lenoir-Rhyne takes sixth with 45 points. In the seventh spot is Belmont Abbey with 35 points and UNC Pembroke takes eighth with 31 points. Erskine rounds out the ninth spot with 22 points and Mount Olive closes the poll in tenth place with 21 points.

The Wolves host Lander for a single game on Tuesday, February 23 at 6 p.m.  Newberry is then on the road against Catawba for a weekend series starting on Friday, February 26 at 6 p.m.
