AUSTIN, Texas – Alex Roberts, Cole Cromer and JoJo Bradley have been named to the Academic All-District III team by the College Sports Information Directors of America and Capital One, as announced Thursday afternoon. Roberts and Cromer both earned declarations for pitching while Bradley was honored as an outfielder.

The trio earn their first all-district recognition from CoSIDA and advance to the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-America® ballot, where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be announced in June.

Newberry is one of only three teams in NCAA Division II to have three members on the all-district squads, joining Grand Valley State and New Mexico Highlands. This is the fourth straight year with the CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District III baseball squad having a Newberry honoree and the most the Wolves have produced in the past four years, the previous record being two in both 2012 and 2013.

Roberts will graduate this Saturday with a 3.96 GPA with a major in psychology and an English minor. He has been on the Dean’s List in every semester while at Newberry and has also been named to the South Atlantic Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll in each of his first three years.

The Myrtle Beach, S.C., native was inducted into Newberry College’s Bachman Honors Society – which honors the top 10 percent of the graduating class each year – while also receiving the Division II Athletic Director’s Association Academic Achievement Award in each year eligible.

Around Newberry, Roberts serves as a member of the Blue Key Honors Society, the Omicron Delta Kappa (ODK) Honors Society and the Summerland Honors Program. He was a student marshal for the past four years while also representing the baseball team on Newberry’s Student Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) in that same time span. In 2013 he was named to the inaugural Newberry All-Academic Team.

On the field, Roberts made seven starts this season after having to sit a year ago due to injury. The right-handed pitcher compiled a 3-3 record with 31 strikeouts in 27.1 innings pitched. For his career, he tallied nine wins and went the distance in four of his 25 starts, totaling 111 strikeouts in 143.1 innings pitched.

Cromer will join Roberts in the graduation proceedings this Saturday and will walk across the stage to receive his degree business administration, toting a 3.63 GPA.

The North Augusta, S.C., native was a frequent member of the Newberry College Dean’s List and has also been named to the South Atlantic Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll the past three years. Cromer serves as a member of the Sigma Alpha Pi National Society of Leadership and Success and the Blue Key Honors Society. He has also been bestowed the Division II Athletic Director’s Association Academic Achievement Award in each year eligible.

On the mound, the right-hander took eight victories on the year while also amassing five complete games, of which two were shutouts. He led the South Atlantic Conference in complete games and shutouts through the end of the regular season and was dubbed an All-SAC honorable mention selection.

Cromer carried a 4.18 ERA and 52 strikeouts in 75.1 innings pitched while also boasting a 6.5:1 strikeout to walk ratio. For his career, he totaled an 18-8 record with a 3.50 ERA in 200.2 innings pitched and 53 appearances. He logged six complete games in 28 starts while striking out 140 opposing batters. His three career shutouts sits alone at the top of the Newberry College record books.

Bradley is the lone underclassmen of the threesome and carries a 3.67 GPA with a business administration major and a minor in Spanish.

The Spartanburg, S.C., native has been a member of the Newberry College Dean’s List each semester and has been on the South Atlantic Conference Commissioner’s Honor Roll for the past two years. He was a recipient of the Division II Athletic Director’s Association Academic Achievement Award last year and is currently a member of the National Society of Leadership and Success.

On the diamond, Bradley hit .351 for the season (68-for-194) with 11 doubles, four home runs, 39 RBIs and scored 45 times. He led the South Atlantic Conference and was fourth in all of NCAA Division II with seven triples on the year, tying standout Jacques Gilliam in the Newberry record books for the second most triples in a season. The junior also carried a .407 on-base percentage and a .541 slugging percentage. He was named a second team All-South Atlantic Conference selection while also picking up SAC All-Tournament team accolades at the conclusion of the season.

Through the past three seasons, Bradley carries a .351 average (144-for-410) with 22 doubles, 11 triples, six home runs, 79 RBIs and 91 runs scored. He has swiped 21 bases and has a .418 on-base percentage while slugging at a .502 clip.

District III is comprised of schools in the Conference Carolinas, Peach Belt Conference and the South Atlantic Conference. Roberts, Cromer and Bradley join Anderson catcher LJ Newman, Lenoir-Rhyne infielder Brantley Rumford, and Coker outfielder Sammy Song as the six members of the squad that represent SAC institutions. The SAC and the Peach Belt took all 12 slots on the 2015 CoSIDA/Capital One Academic All-District III team.
