INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Newberry Wolves have reemerged in the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Poll, as announced by the NCAA Division II baseball committee on Wednesday afternoon.

The Wolves come in the eighth slot in the May 6 standings after falling out of last week’s ballot. Newberry made their first appearance in the program’s history in the April 22 listing.

Catawba (40-12) retains the top spot for the third straight week. The Indians are followed by North Georgia (35-14), Columbus State (35-13), UNC Pembroke (37-12), Mount Olive (35-14), Armstrong State (32-13), USC Aiken (33-16) and Newberry.

Six teams will make up the NCAA Regional with the three conference tournament champions from the South Atlantic Conference, Peach Belt Conference and Conference Carolinas all receiving automatic bids to the regional. The three top ranked teams that remain in the standings after the automatic bids have been passed out will comprise the remainder of the playing field for the 2015 NCAA Southeast Regional Tournament. The event will be hosted at the top ranked team’s home facility on May 14-17.

The selection show for NCAA Division II Baseball Regionals will be held on Sunday, May 10, at 10 p.m. on NCAA.com.

Newberry finished the year with a 34-18 record, the most wins in recorded history dating back through 1981. The Wolves completed back-to-back 30 win seasons for the first time in that time frame while also winning 20+ (21) South Atlantic Conference games for the first time since joining the league in 1997.
