NEWBERRY - Newberry College baseball players Ryan Cranmer and Wesley Camp have added to their list of postseason honors with laurels from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association and American Baseball Coaches Association over the weekend.
Cranmer (Newport, N.C.) was named the second team all-Southeast Region third baseman by both the NCBWA and the ABCA, putting him on all three all-region teams after earning first team honors from DAKTRONICS. He was recently named the first player in the program's history to earn first team all-South Atlantic Conference more than once. He was one of the top hitters in the conference, standing in a tie for third place in batting average (.376) and fourth in homeruns (10). His 47 runs scored ranked third in the league and he led the conference in total bases with 116. He was fifth in the conference with 68 hits and eighth in the league with 44 RBIs. He was also 12th in the conference with 11 stolen bases.
Camp (Pelion, S.C.) was a second team all-South Atlantic Conference honoree at starting pitcher and earned second team all-Southeast Region honors from the ABCA as well. The junior went 8-3 this season with three complete games and one shutout. He led the conference with 100.2 innings pitched and his 2.32 season ERA was sixth-best in the conference. He finished sixth in the SAC with 66 strikeouts while walking only 16.
