ROCK HILL - Following Saturday's completion of the regular season, the South Atlantic Conference has announced the Newberry Wolves will be the fourth seed in this year's Food Lion SAC Championship, to be held April 24-27.

The Wolves will face third-seeded Lincoln Memorial at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at McNair Field in Forest City, N.C. The tournament is a double elimination format, with the champion earning the league's automatic berth to the NCAA Division II Tournament

Newberry - the only team in the league to complete all 50 regular season games allowed by the NCAA as well as all 30 scheduled conference games - finished the season with a 17-13 conference record. At 29-21 overall, the Wolves have consecutive winning seasons for the first time since 1995 and 1996. Newberry also has a nine-game winning streak entering the tournament - the longest current streak in the conference

The Wolves will face third-seeded Lincoln Memorial in the opening round. LMU had a 16-8 conference record. Newberry took two games in the three-game series between the schools back in February.
