NEWBERRY - The Newberry Wolves jumped out to an early lead and earned a 10-7 win over the Pfeiffer Falcons in the baseball team's final home game of the 2014 season.

Newberry is now 25-21 on the season entering Wednesday's final non-conference game of the regular season at No. 16 USC Aiken. Pfeiffer falls to 26-18 overall.

Albert Baur (Philadelphia, Pa.) went 4-for-5 on the night and was one of four Wolves with multiple hits on the night. Those hits showed up early in the night as the Wolves plated five runs. Baur's RBI double started the scoring, followed by Eric Barbieri (Marlton, N.J.) with a run-scoring single, a two-run single from Mitchell Griffin (Columbia, S.C.) and an RBI sacrifice bunt by D.J. Martinez (Montpelier, Va.) to push the lead to 5-0.

Pfeiffer brought home a pair of runs in the second with another run in the third to cut the lead to 5-3 before Newberry scored three in the third on an RBI double by Barbieri, a run-scoring error and a run-scoring single by Jermale Paige (Walterboro, S.C.), putting the lead at 8-3.

The Falcons answered in kind with three runs in the fourth before Baur brought home another run with a two-out RBI single in the sixth to make it 9-6. A Falcon sacrifice fly in the eighth brought the run back to two runs, but Baur blasted another double to center in the bottom of the inning to cap the scoring and earn the Wolves' 18th home win of the year.

Paige, JoJo Bradley (Spartanburg, S.C.) and Barbieri each had two hits in the game. Baur drove three runs in, while Barbieri and Griffin each had two RBIs.

Drew Towery (West Columbia, S.C.; 1-0) earned the win with 1.1 innings of relief, while Matt Chapman (Summerville, S.C.) allowed no runs on four hits and three strikeouts in 3.2 innings of relief. Daniel Nations (Central, S.C.) earned his third save of the season with 1.2 innings of closing relief with two strikeouts and no hits.
