NEWBERRY - Ryan Cranmer drove in four runs and hit a homerun in his second straight game to lead the Newberry Wolves to a 6-2 win over the visiting Pfeiffer Falcons at the Smith Road Complex on Tuesday evening.

Newberry is now 7-5 on the season and visits No. 8 Lander for a 6 p.m. start Wednesday before hosting No. 4 Catawba for a three-game South Atlantic Conference series on Friday and Saturday. Pfeiffer falls to 1-9 on the year.

Cranmer started the scoring for the Wolves with a mammoth two-run homer to the pond beyond the left field fence in the bottom of the first and his sacrifice fly to right field scored Anthony Siler (Longwood, Fla.) in the top of the third to give Newberry a 3-0 lead.

Wolves starter Brandon Ahrens (Newberry, S.C.) was perfect for three innings before he allowed a pair of runs in the top of the fourth on a wild pitch and a homerun by Jon Gray.

Newberry responded with a run in the fifth on a Cranmer RBI single to score Nolan Schrenker (Valrico, Fla.) to make it 4-2. Schrenker scored on a wild pitch in the seventh and Wesley Camp (Pelion, S.C.) brought Siler homer later that inning with a run-scoring double.

The Falcons had the bases loaded in the top of the ninth with the tying run at the plate, but Tyler Sturkie (West Columbia, S.C.) made a good defensive play to end the game.

Ahrens moved to 2-0 on the season, allowing one earned run on three hits in five innings, while striking out two. Newberry pitchers allowed only one walk in the game, and that runner was picked off of first base. Daniel Nations (Central, S.C.) struck out three in two innings of relief.

Cranmer was 2-for-3 with four RBIs, while Camp went 3-for-4 and drove in one. Siler and Schrenker each scored two runs.
