NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Black team came back from a 1-0 deficit to defeat the Red team, 3-1, in the opening game of the fall World Series at the Smith Road Complex on Monday.

Red took a 1-0 lead in the top of the fourth on an RBI double to right field from Roland Haskins (Alexandria, Va.), which scored Robert Danise (Vero Beach, Fla.) from first.

But Black came back in the bottom half of the inning, tying the game on an RBI single from Jesus Chireno (Miami, Fla.). Fogarile (Brooklyn, N.Y.) put the winning runs on the board with a two-out, two-run double to left field.

Fogarile won Game MVP honors for the opener. Chauncey Mattei (Greenville, S.C.) was the winning pitcher for Black, while Red's Wade Ruff (Rock Hill, S.C.) was tagged with the loss.

Due to weather concerns, Game Two has been pushed to Wednesday. The Game Two and Three doubleheader will start at 4 p.m. that day.
