Gray evens World Series with 6-0 win

NEWBERRY, S.C. - The Gray team tied up the 2007 Newberry Fall World Series with a 6-0 win over the Scarlet team at the Smith Road Baseball Complex on Tuesday evening. Jovan Rohena (Trujillo Alto, Puerto Rico) hit a two-run homerun off the scoreboard in right field to claim Game Two MVP honors.

First baseman David Guthrie (Montreal, Quebec, Canada) was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and a run scored. An RBI double to right by Nick Martin (Morehead City, N.C.) was followed by Guthrie's two-run single up the middle in the first inning to give Gray the early 3-0 lead after the top of the first.

Rohena's two-run bomb in the second put Gray up 5-0, and an RBI single to left in the third by Gary Hersey (Key West, Fla.) wrapped up the scoring.

Thomas Berryhill (Aynor, S.C.) was 2-for-2 on stolen base opportunities and leads the series with four stolen bags in two games. Along with Martin, Derek Bley (Upper Arlington, Ohio), Shane Fisher (Greensboro, N.C.) and Zach Upton (Clearwater, Fla.) all hit doubles in the game.

A pivotal Game Three will start at approximately 4 p.m. Wednesday at the Smith Road Baseball Complex.
