NEWBERRY, S.C. -  Game two MVP Junior Carlos Pupo left no doubt with a towering home run to center field to tie the game at  2-2 in the 5th inning and the Red Team offense jumped on the bandwagon in the 7th scoring 5 more runs to even the series at one game apiece.

Both teams continued their hot pitching and stellar defense in game two.  Red starter Nick Loden (So) and Black starter Pat Egleston (Sr.) held their respective teams in check throughout most of the game.  In the 5th, Freshman Ernie Castellano came on in relief for the Black to face Junior Carlos Pupo.  With a 2-0 count Pupo drilled a high fastball into the trees in deep center field to tie the game at 2-2.  Pupo’s blast would not be the only damage inflicted by the Red Team offense.  In the top of the 7th with the score tied 2-2, the Red Team loaded the bases with a walk, hit batter and an error.  With the bases loaded, the Red Team proceeded to take control with clutch hits from Red Team Coach Brian Boeshko, Carlos Pupo and Ryan Easterby.

Matt Cote came on in relief for the Red to seal the deal as the Red Team evened the best of 5 series with a score of 7-2.  Both teams will be off until Sunday at 1:00PM due to the Newberry / PC football game and the Newberry Baseball Blue Chip Recruit weekend.  The baseball team will have a 9 inning scrimmage on Saturday at 10:00AM at Newberry High School.
