Wednesday, February 25, 2004

GAFFNEY, S.C. - Limestone College used three extra-base hits and two singles to score four runs in the fourth inning and never trailed Newberry College in a 6-3 win Wednesday afternoon at Bob Prevatte Field.

Stuart Kay (1-1) took his first loss of the season, giving up six runs on eight hits over 5 1/3 innings.  Pete Stupiello held the Saints scoreless on three hits for the remainder of the game.

Limestone's Devin Page (1-0) recorded the win, but was chased from the mound when the Indians threatened in the fifth.  Billy Alm fired a leadoff triple that was followed by a Stuart Kay RBI single. Travis Moore gave Page his walking papers with a single.  Matthew Webb tripled, sending both runners home, to conclude scoring for the game by either team.

Newberry is scheduled to face Augusta State Friday at 2 p.m. pending the weather.
