Rashelle McLellan

Rashelle McLellan was promoted to head coach for the Wolves' women's lacrosse team in June 2016.


McLellan joined the Wolves as associate head coach prior to the 2016 season and served as acting head coach for the season, leading the Wolves to a 5-11 record. Newberry won four of its first five games of the season under McLellan's leadership.


In her first full season as the head coach for the team in 2017, McLellan led Newberry to a 5-12 record. The high point of the season came in a thrilling 15-14 win over Nyack in which the Wolves scored the winning goal with 42 seconds to play. 

Prior to Newberry, McLellan spent two seasons as assistant coach at Young Harris College, where the Mountain Lions executed one of the largest turnarounds in the nation. YHC went 1-16 in McLellan's first year on staff, then improved to 11-5 in the 2015 season.


McLellan played four seasons for NCAA Division II powerhouse Limestone at goalkeeper and was named an All-American in 2011. McLellan and the Saints played in two NCAA Division II national title matches in 2011 and 2013 and she was named her team's MVP as well as being named to the NCAA Division II All-Tournament Team in 2011.


Limestone captured four Conference Carolinas titles and appeared in the NCAA Division II tournament four times during her stay. She was twice named to the All-Conference Carolinas first team. McLellan recorded the lowest goals-against average (6.19) in NCAA Division II in 2013 and finished second in save percentage (.534) in 2011.


McLellan earned her bachelor's degree from Limestone in 2013 in strength and conditioning and general physical education with a minor in coaching.
