John Fogarile completed his third season with the Newberry program in 2017, helping the team to record 32 or more wins in each year on staff.
Fogarile works primarily with the Wolves' infielders and hitters. The Wolves have posted two of the top three team batting averages since the turn of the century with Fogarile on staff (including a program-best .321 mark in 2015), their three highest on-base percentages on record, and two of the top three fielding percentages.
The Queens, New York native helped Newberry to its best-ever regular season finish in the South Atlantic Conference in 2015, finishing with a 21-8 league mark and a second-place finish. Newberry was fourth in 2016 before a third-place finish in 2017, a season that ended at 16-8 in SAC games and included a string of 16 wins in 18 contests, including 11 in a row, during the middle of the year.
Fogarile was a 2012 Newberry graduate that appeared in 102 games with 70 starts for the Wolves, playing all four infield positions and serving as a designated hitter. He played shortstop all four years at Brooklyn, New York's Xaverian High School, where he led the team to a 27-2 record, a city title, and a No. 35 national ranking during his senior season. He coached travel teams in the northeast for two years before joining Head Coach Russell Triplett's staff in August 2014.
