Men finish third at Upstate Cross Country InvitationalOctober 15, 2011
SPARTANBURG, S.C. - The Newberry men's cross country team finished third out of seven teams while the women finished seventh of eight at the Upstate Cross Country Invitational at USC Upstate on Saturday morning. Men The Newberry men were led by freshman Nathan Collier (Weatherford, Texas.), who finished 10th of 67 runners with an 8k time of 27 minutes, 46 seconds. It is the fifth top-10 finish for Collier, who finished better than every other freshman in the race. Justin Golay (Springfield, Mo.) finished 19th with a time of 29:02 while Alex Holshoe (Hopkins, Mich.) finished 31st with a time of 30:00. Women The Newberry women were led by Kelley Strong (Union, S.C.), who finished 19th out of 56 with a time of 21:42. Rebecca Eddy (Eugene, Ore.) finished 37th in 22:57 while Ariel Strong (Cassatt, S.C.) finished 44th in 24:07. Full individual and team results from both the men's and women's race can be found here.
