Collier finishes fifth as Wolves run in Bridgestone-Pacer InvitationalSeptember 17, 2011
AIKEN, S.C. – The Newberry men’s and women’s cross country teams finished in sixth and seventh place, respectively, at the Bridgestone-Pacer Collegiate Invitational on Saturday morning. The Newberry men were paced by freshman Nathan Collier (Weatherford, Texas) who finished in fifth place with an 8K time of 27:22.60. While Collier was the only Newberry men’s runner to finish in the top-10, teammate Justin Golay (Springfield, Mo.) finished in 20th for the Wolves. On a 6K course the women were led by freshman Rebecca Eddy (Eugene, Ore.) who finished in 24th with a time of 25:55.40. Only five spots behind Eddy was freshman Kelley Strong (Union, S.C.) in 29th place and senior Nicole Whittle (Port Richey, Fla.) in 36th. Newberry continues the cross country season on September 24 when it competes in the Bulldog Stampede at Wingate.
