Where did the season go? Tough to believe we are nearly at the end of October. My favorite month of the year is almost over! For those of you following along at home, it has been a record breaking fall season for the Newberry College Women's Golf Team!
Here is a by the numbers recap:
Scoring Average: 310.9
Low 18: 299* (Broke previous school record by 11 strokes)
Low 36: 611* (Broke previous school record by 16 strokes)
Wins: 2 (L-R/Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate and Patsy Rendleman Invite)
Highest GolfStat Ranking: 10th!
Low 18: 72 (Maria Besio at Lady Falcon Invite)
Low 36: 149 (Maria Besio at LR/Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate, Josefine Mensner at Patsy Rendleman Invite)
Wins: Maria Besio at LR/Myrtle Beach Intercollegiate, Josefine Mensner at Patsy Rendleman Invite
Individual Scoring Averages:
We had a total of seven players (out of 11 eligible) qualify for tournament action. Below you will see the player, their scoring average and the number of rounds completed.
Maria Besio: 75.75 (8)
Barbara Castro: 77 (8)
Josefine Mensner: 78.5 (8)
Lisa Brandl: 79.33 (8)
Julia Sizemore: 81(2)
Lourdes Donde: 84.75 (4)
Sara Johansson 87.75 (4)
After each tournament round, each player completes a "stat sheet" that outlines their round. It includes a hole by hole recap and totals for fairways, greens, putts, up and downs and other important categories. Back at school, I keep a running total to help players focus their daily practice and isolate weaknesses. Check out the team leader in each statistical category:
Up/Down: 4.375 per round
Par 3 GIR: 3.25
It is very fun to sit back and take a look at each tournament round and the various statistics! These will serve as the template for off season practice and help each individual improve!
Thanks for following Newberry College Women's Golf!
