NEWBERRY, S.C. – The Newberry College women's soccer team turned in a determined defensive performance against Lenoir-Rhyne on Saturday afternoon, led by goalkeeper Madison Gutierrez.

Gutierrez recorded five saves while facing 17 shots from the Bears, helping keep the Wolves competitive throughout the South Atlantic Conference matchup. Newberry's defense continued to battle under pressure, limiting several scoring opportunities and showing resilience against one of the conference's top offensive attacks.

With the result, the Wolves move to 2-4-2 overall on the season.

Newberry will look to build on that defensive effort when they return to action on Wednesday, Sept. 30, traveling to face USC Beaufort. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:30 p.m..
